At last! Brillig's spiffy new film clip for the sea shanty / drinking song "The Old Captain" has been released! Following a packed out live launch at the Grace Emily on 5th December, the clip has now been posted on YouTube>> and 'film buff' site Vimeo. You can see it below too, but If you like it, please go to YouTube & share it!! :)
Set at the beloved Grace Emily Hotel, the clip was filmed/produced/edited by the extremely talented & lovely Nima Nabili Rad and Daniel Principe.
Starring as the title character is radio man & SA icon David 'Daisy' Day, who is described by former Redgum frontman John Schumann as someone who is "as influential as anybody in this industry I can think about". Daisy, who is in ill health but high spirits, was recently honoured by 200 of his industry mates at a special surprise party in his honour in October (read the story here >>).
Brillig was absolutely thrilled to have Daisy as 'our Captain', and he certainly kept the troops entertained between - and during - shots with his countless colourful stories.
The clip also features an extras cast of Brillig buddies and "Who's Who" of the Adelaide music scene, who had the *extremely tough* task of drinking at the Grace all day during the shoot. A full list of these crazy characters is available in the latest blog>> Stills from behind the scenes and the finished clip will be released in 2011.

Adelaide Fringe Videos (April 2010)
Brillig has uploaded
a couple of video
clips from their official
Adelaide Fringe Festival show"Til
Death Do Us Part", recorded at
the Grace Emily Hotel,
March 2010. The band played a series of murder ballads
amidst a very colourful 'Tim
Burton-esque' cemetery set!
The
clips show that yes, it is indeed possible to fit all
of Brillig's instruments, and a complete cemetery, on
the charmingly petite Grace Emily stage. Many thanks
again to the amazing staff
at the Grace for their ongoing kindness
and tolerance of Brillig's shenanigans. :)
The
show was also the official South
Australian launch of new LP "The Red Coats."
The footage was shot by pal Gordon
Andersen, who did an absolutely awesome
job, and you can also find more clips from the Fringe
(thanks to Spoz & Geoff!) on Brillig's Youtube
channel. Why not become a subscriber while you're there?
There are more clips from
the Fringe to come....
The following track is "Assorted Fate", from Brillig's LP "The Red Coats." More tracks from this series are on Brillig's Youtube channel.
